Obama beats McCain by a slim margin...in Mrs. Grin's Kindergarten class

Miss Talora Rose reports that today her class "voted." When asked by her nosy mother who she voted for, Miss Talora replied, "Who you wanted" (Obama, of course). Tali went on to report that Obama won the kindergarten election, with the final tally of 11-9. Emboldened, her nosy mother asked if she knew who voted McCain, as that would narrow down the number of kids we would have to invite to future birthday parties, if you know what I mean (heh, heh). Tali claimed no knowledge or memory of who voted for Johnny Mac. The young reporter is lying on the den floor at present, singing "It's a Hard Knock Life (for Us)"

An update from the bowels of academia

Hello Family
The Lil'est Lutwick here, giving y'all an update.
I'm currently half way done through my first semester of school. Thus far I have:
Changed my ideas about future careers about 10 times
Become a serious ramen afficienado
Met some of the coolest most influential people in american theater
Realized that showering every day, getting monthly eyebrow waxes, sleeping 8 hours, eating more than once a day, going out with friends, picking up my phone is TOTALLY overrated
I am pleased to announce I will be going to visit ima's family is canada for christmas, as well as michagan in january.

I am tired, and smelly, but very happy. Ah the life of a grad student.

I am getting excited about the upcoming election. Thought you all might enjoy this:

A new arrival...

Dr. and Mrs Schmeckman announce the arrival of their new addition, a 374 page, ~2 pound, bouncing baby book. Parents and baby are well. BA was born (released) on October 21, 2008 on Spring Street in SOHO, New York City and will be visiting his older siblings when his clones are shipped from the clone factory sometime in the near future.

When asked about the arrival, Dr. Schmeckman said "Well we do not expect to retire on the royalities but we are watching for BA on the New York Times best seller list."

Keeping up with the fall & halloween spirit - Oliver tried pumpkin for lunch today. He wasn't sure about the first 2 bites - but this was the 3rd bite. Somewhat of a success!

I don't know about the pretzel bites from trader joes - but if you have not tried the new mint crisp M&MS - it is a must. It is like a little thin mint in your mouth. Steve and I have almost polished off an entire (BIG) bag.

All Things Lutwick - and Mir

Exciting times for the Mir clan. You may not know this, but our brother(-in-law) Bilal is quite the thespian - of stage and screen. This week, a film in which he stars, "The Parts Left Over," debuted in Tucson. An "indy" flick, produced for less than $4,000 in and around Tucson, the film is being submitted to a few of the film fests. We are excited to see if it gets any pick-up. For now, we'll have to settle for clicking here for the trailer!

Urged on by my trusty cousin Julie, I have taken the step of starting a family blog. Never again can someone complain, "I didn't know that!!!" If it's family knowledge, it's here for the knowing.

Feel free to post pictures, updates, notes, jokes, complaints (keep it sweet, kids), and any exciting news you would like to share with the fam.

To start things off with a bang (no, I'm not about to announce a pregnancy or anything like that), I'll put some recent kid pics, although I'll probably keep posting most of the pics on the Tali and Zev blog http://taliandzev.blogspot.com/.

I'd also like to send out a recommendation:

If you haven't already tried the "Dark Chocolate Covered Pretzel Bites" from Trader Joe's, YOU MUST! They are so great. I'm eating them now, by the handful, at 10:45am!
